Hollywood Actresses Mandy Moore, Anna Paquin, and Odette Yustman Wear FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier to the Oscars and After Parties

Stars like singer and actress Mandy Moore chose Los Angeles-based fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, an alumna of FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, for Hollywoods biggest night of the year: the 2011 Academy Awards. Moores glittering off the shoulder sequin dress was chosen from the Spring 2011 collection and featured a blush colored tulle skirt.

Held at the Kodak Theater on Sunday, February 27, 2011, Moore told reporters that she was excited and filled with adrenaline. She chose Lhuillier again as she performed the Oscar-nominated I See The Light from Tangled with Zachary Levi to an audience of around one billion people. For the stage she wore a strapless cobalt blue ball gown. Moore also wore a blue Lhuillier gown to this years Golden Globe Awards.

True Blood star and previous Oscar winner Anna Paquin picked a beautiful red flamenco-inspired Monique Lhuillier dress to attend the famed Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood. Also stunning in red was actress Odette Yustman, who arrived at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in a Lhuillier chiffon gown with a knotted bodice and keyhole cut out detail.

Lhuillier, who majored in fashion design at FIDM, launched her self-titled company in 1996 with a bridal collection. After becoming a top American wedding dress designer, Lhuillier added ready-to-wear and eveningwear in 2001. She has attracted fans such as Kristen Stewart, Drew Barrymore, Hilary Swank, and Katie Holmes. There are Monique Lhuillier salons in Beverly Hills and Minneapolis.

I didnt know how to cut and sew before I came to FIDM, Lhuillier explains. When I was a student I was full of dreams and knew I loved clothing, but I was also scared. I was fortunate that I could start my own line and risk it all. Lhuilliers fellow fashion design alum, Randolph Duke, co-hosted ABCs post-Oscar On the Red Carpet show, dishing about the evenings fashion and trends.
